Officials in Palawan have accused a mining firm of clearing an old growth forest, but the firm, says the tree cutting is covered by valid permits.

This links back to Episode 7 when I discussed with Iv the effects of climate change on the Philippines, and how the former Environment Secretary, who came down heavy on mining operations, and closed down over 20 mines, wasn’t approved by lawmakers because of so called lobby money. Here’s where it gets interesting, Ipilan Nickel Corp was one of those mining firms that Lopez had shut down.
